About Tiffany
Learning an instrument and playing music is a lot of fun, but there is something very special about the oboe! My oboe journey began eleven years ago and I have been giving lessons for three years.
After graduating from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor's in Music I continued to give lessons part-time. During my time at South Alabama I served in the premier ensemble as the principal oboist. In addition, I had extensive aural training and performed in various ensembles with the Alto Saxophone, English Horn, and Piano.
I enjoy teaching and sharing my joy for music with others! After some thought I've decided to branch out and continue my teaching journey online!
Originally from Texas, I first began learning to play the oboe in fifth grade and immediately knew that I would play it for the rest of my life. I began performing competitively in middle school and earned positions in honor bands and orchestra's. In high school, I went on to Regional Orchestra for four consecutive years. After recieving a full-ride scholarship to the University of South Alabama to recieve my undergraduate degree in Music, I was able to hone my skill as a musician and form various connections in the community. I began teaching a small studio my sophmore year of college and have continued teaching even post graduation.

An assessment of a student's ability is critical to ensuring that their lesson's are tailored to their individual needs. In addition, I will need to know what materials, such as method and theory books, that a student is using for practice. There are different method books that I would suggest a student practice out of depending on their playing ability. The first lesson is crucial for mapping out their lesson progression and building rapport. I can determine some area's to focus on, whether it is music theory, ear training, fingering techniques, breath support, embouchure, or appropriate musical expression. Students will always be encouraged and all questions are welcome. Mistakes will happen in the classroom and on stage, but my goal is to nurture a positive attitude and instill confidence in my students.
