About DALE
With 15+ years of teaching experience, it is my objective to help all students recognize and reach their full potential. I present a balanced program of clarinet technique, repertoire, and practice techniques that will help develop areas of your musicianship that need attention. Whether you're a beginner, an advanced clarinetist, an adult student, or anywhere in between, lessons might be just what it takes to get you to that next level!
Dale's students consistently achieve first division ratings at district and state MSBOA Solo and Ensemble festivals. Our incredible studio has been represented at Michigan Youth Arts Festival every year for the past ten years. We have numerous students who are currently enrolled in and many who have completed music degrees in clarinet performance and music edcuation.
I find an immense amount of joy in watching a student realize and cultivate their own creativity, potential, and talent.
Dale holds a Bachelors of Music Education and continues to strive in becoming a better clarinet teacher and player by attending masterclasses, taking lessons with prolific teachers, and performing regularly.

In our first lesson, we simply assess where the student is in their journey as a clarinet player. We then come up with a plan for our future path as a clarinet player based on assessment and discussion in our first lesson! From this point, we have a great time cultivating and recognizing our own talent and ability.

Dale is a great lesson instructor. Our daughter has been using the Huggard clarinet studio for over 3 years. Dale is patient, kind, encouraging, and always positive. Our daughter has more confidence in her skills and loves to practice. She wants to have music in her career. We appreciate Dale and we highly recommend him.
I took lessons with Dale all 4 years of high school. He prepared me very well for solo and ensemble and I was able to successfully audition into schools of music. I am a professional music educator now and I still occasionally ask Dale for advice with teaching my own students. He has high but achievable expectations that are individually tailored for each student, and he works very hard to meet each student where they are. He is also an exceptional player who sets a great example. I would recommend him for any level of player!
