About Richard

Come join us to paint one of the most beautiful scenic mountain views. Paint in our 2,500sq ft. studio with big glass windows, or go outside on the covered back porch to capture the constant change of color bouncing off the mountains. You can even wander down to paint our roaring waterfalls! All this, while enjoying fruit and cheese with non-alcoholic beverages (or BYOB). Don't be surprised if we get a visit from a friendly bear. You may see them up close, but don't set your drink down, because they cannot get to you!

Your host has been a full time artist since 1981. Mr. Russell has works in the NFL Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and several other museums. With over 50 solo exhibits, he has sold over 600 originals and many thousands of canvas prints. He has now turned his attention to the mountains he has loved for so many years.

People have been asking me to teach since the 80's. They started by seeing me and my work at shows and exhibits. I have also lectured to many art associations, where club members asked me for lessons.

I have taught and lectured to thousands of people from art clubs. My stregnth is art marketing, which we can discuss while painting.

About the lesson

For a new student, we will photograph the mountains, then print the view on canvas. I am here to help them paint and have a wonderful experience, rather than teach them to draw. New students can save time by painting directly over the photograph so the perspective is correct and they do not have to worry about drawing.

All levels from beginner to full time professionals.

I believe that painting is more of an understanding of how to look at things. It is not about talent, as much as enjoyment. Painting is an attitude, and everyone has their own objectives. Find a teacher that you will enjoy and help you reach your goals.

Visiting the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH and getting VIP treatment from the Hall. I was given a private tour of the museum, to areas where the public cannot go, by the head curator and given white gloves to handle my own painting that hangs there.

Details

We require 3-5 people per sitting. The price is $125 per person for a five hour session. Times and dates are by appointment.
