About Rich
I'm a nationally acclaimed landscape painter and instructor, three time faculty member of the annual Plein Air Convention and Expo, and frequent demonstrator and lecturer for various regional art organizations. Please visit my website, richgallego.com for examples of my work.
Obviously, I love painting the landscape. But, unlike some artists, I also greatly enjoy teaching others. I find it very rewarding when my students start putting it all together and finding success. Through learning to paint the landscape I have grown to appreciate the natural world far more than I did before I was a painter. It's something that enhances my life immensely, and helping others to gain that same experience is quite satisfying. My hope is that my students become as enthusiastic about painting as I am. That's why I tell people, " I teach not to fill buckets but, to build fires!"

I like to find out what a student's knowledge base is and build from there. We cover all aspects of painting including composition, value assessment, color theory, design, edge treatment, etc... My approach simplifies the painting process to allow students to progress continuously.
