I met Edward at an art show in Loomis, CA. I immediately signed up take a lesson. Edward is a great teacher. I have learned so much from him. I have taken five classes from him and hope to take more. He as such a great ability to help the student see how to mix the paints and lay them down on the canvas. Each class I have walked away feeling great about the experience.

Edward is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable and explains color very well. His classes include great handouts for me to review at home. He's friendly and is willing to help me personally with my art questions.

Having taken many classes from Edward, I find him to be a patient and talented teacher, good in private or group lessons. As an impressionist painter, he takes a “painterly approach” by blocking in, putting in darks and cast shadows, then transition lights and then lightest lights. He taught me value. He said , “If the values aren’t right, the painting won’t work’. Additionally he goes over saturation, temperature, color mixing, warm/cool colors, and when/how to gray down color and many other things. He taught about keeping edges soft until the last minute, and how to achieve atmosphere. Edward does a good mix of demonstration/teaching, and working with you to help your painting achieve it’s goals. I learned about brushes, tools, and techniques as well. Great all around instruction!!

Edward knew his subject, was well organized, taught the full time, and answered questions as they arose. I particularly liked his sharing his palette paint choices, both limited and expanded. He was personable and knowledgeable and I enjoyed the class.

Ed is a fantastic teacher for me!! I am new to oil painting and nervous about it. But he has taught me much in 2 months period with his years of experience. He is the most patient, kind, and encouraging teacher you could ask for!!

Edward has an easy going way that makes painting a joy, non-intimidating. There is room to explore and grow in a pleasant, stress-free environment. As a novice, I truly appreciated this. His work is beautiful and inspiring.

Edward understands the new to accomplished student. He has easy shortcuts in laying out paints on pallet. He willingly shares what he has learned to encourage the student and ensure the lessons and paintings are completed.
He makes painting fun! He is open to learning himself during a class and his humor and patience are outstanding!

I took Edward’s private lessons and really enjoyed the experience! He is a very knowledgeable, friendly and an amazing instructor. I learned the most important fundamentals and workflow of producing a successful piece from him. The concepts and hands-on lessons I learned from him are the core and the most valuable ones, which every painter (despite the current level )will need to learn/master in order to succeed in painting. He also provided important critiques on my paintings, which helped me to become more cognizant of my own painting process.
