My website best explains my passion and my acheivements.

Through having my own gallery in Anchorage and later Wasilla, Alaska.

All my teenage years I spent as a boarder in the Convent of the Sacred Heart Auckland, NZ. During those years, I was part of a private curriculum class of oil painters. It began with the study of oil painting history, Renaissance, biographical studies of the Artists and styles. Finally being able to put brush to canvas with a live subject. I spent 19 years in Alaska, USA where I continued oil painting, at the same time experimenting with other forms of art. I studied porceline doll making and branched out into a unique style of my own, which won me 1st place in Fur Rondy (State wide Alaskan arts & crafts) in my section with 97% for my Alaskan Eskimo Doll. Later I was granted the Silver Hand authentic Alaskan art by the State of Alaska. This gave me the reckognition and confidence to open my own business, J & D Enterprises, I was now living my dream as an artist full time and selling what I loved doing, painting oils on canvas.

About the lesson

First getting to know the student and how much they know about the history of oil painting, the renaissance period and the styles of different artists.

Secondly how much do they know about colors and blending, tinting and shodowing.

Art is not just painting e.g. if you are a portrait painter, you need to know the antomy of the body, the muscle structure, etc.

These questions are necessary to see how deep their passion goes and future growth. The art of bring it alive on the canvas.

Mostly Oil painters, the ages vary.

First to find an Art Teacher in the medium they are interested in or would like to branch into. Ask to see their work, you can tell a lot from an artists colors and styles. A lot of dark colors, usually shows depression in a person which can reflect over to you. The same can be said for a lot of anger or violence in an artists work, could be something emotional going on with this person.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Are there other students in the same class, are you meeting in a safe place? How flexible are you with your teaching schedule? Do you provide supplies or do I bring my own? Are you flexible with your price? Would you recommend brands of oil paints and brushes and what size canvas should I start with?

This depends on the student, at what level are they and whether they have their own supplies, I prefer them too so they can continue working on their piece at home. My average price would be $20-00 per hour.
