About Timothy

I started my art career when I was in seventh grade, I won the design cover for our school annual. Of course, that made me think that art was going to be my career, so I started taking all the classes that I could through the rest of my high school career. I went to college to get a teaching degree in art but I meet my wife, got married and started having children so I had to quit school and go to work. In 1989 I was in a horrific car accident that put me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. My youngest son came to me one day and said you have to watch the guy on TV and this guy was Bob Ross. I went from buying his equipment to signing up to become an instructor and which I did and became a landscape instructor in 1994. I was very lucky to have Steve Ross and Bob’s first instructor Dana Jester teaching that class for all three levels of the landscape. I went on to become certified in floral and 2001 and wildlife in 2003 and I have been teaching from the very beginning.

I have had many students over the years who were absolutely thrilled with their end result. I did stop teaching from 2010 to 2018 in which time I finish my Bachelor's degree in fine arts and went on to get a Masters degree in fine arts and graduating in May 2018.

I am now in the process of setting up classes in the landscape, floral and wildlife of the Bob Ross wet on wet technique. Going to these classes will be the most fun that you will ever have because these classes are relaxed and nobody is pushed to finish. However, you will leave with a completely finished painting ready to hang in your home and give you bragging rights by saying that you did this oil painting. I also teach traditional wildlife and still life for those who do want to learn traditional oil painting.

I began teaching after I became a certified instructor in landscape and after I saw Bob Ross on TV.

I am a certified Bob Ross instructor in the landscape, floral and wildlife. I also hold a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in fine arts drawing and painting. I have over 50 years of experience in art and 30 years of teaching art.

About the lesson

I treat new students just as I do experienced students, we all work at the same pace so that the new student does not fall behind or do not understand the process we are working on.

I have taught students from 12 years old to 86 and had miraculous results from all of them. I have also taught students with disabilities and be advised that I myself is in a wheelchair from a horrific car accident.

Make sure that they have certifiable expertise in the area of art that you are interested in and that they have in fact a teaching background of some type.

I myself have gone to instructional classes all over the country for weeklong seminars studying different media of art for instance pencil drawing by JD Hillbury and that class was held in Austin, Texas.

For Bob Ross classes I charge $60 for the use of all the equipment that you will need to produce your painting on the canvas that you will be taking home.

1) The most important thing you need to bring is your smile and a good attitude.

2) You need to bring an apron.
