About Naomi

I am an elementary special educaton teacher working with students in kindargarten through grade 5. I have been a teachign for over 7 years, supprting studnets with academics as well as helping students build self confidence and learn stratgeis to help them be successful in the classroom.

I am certified in elementary education and special education. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education as well as a bachelors degree in psychology. I have a masters degree in comprehensive (k-12) special edcuation. I am trainied in explicit phonics instruction and use explicit multisensory instruction on a daily basis.

I enjoy working with all levels of elementary age students. I enjoy supporting students in building self condfidence and increasing their belief in thier abilities.

I've been working in the field of education and special education for many years. I began babysitting at a young age, worked in daycares with various age levels, and worked as a paraprofessional before beginning my teaching program.

I am a certified special educaiton and elementary school teacher. I am trainied in explicit phonics instruction using the Orton Gillingham methodology.

About the lesson

Upon meeting a student, I like to get to know him or her by creating a rapport, finding a common interest or learning something about that student. I also gather information about the student to find out how that student learns best (i.e. visually, kinesthetically, etc). Then I work to get a sense of where that student's understanding of the particular content area is. I would do some informal assessment to gather information and then move forward with planning some lessons and/or activites.

I have worked with students from preschool through high school. I have worked with students with severe learning difficulties as well as students with significant behavior issues. I have worked with students with a wide range of abilites.

Ask lots of questions. Don't be afraid to have a discusssion and get to know the other person involved.
