Super Producer & Hit Songwriter Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, credits me for teaching him how to write songs in his 2014 Breakfast Club Interview and again at his 2014 Apollo Debut AmEx "Unstaged" Red Bull Concert....

Debut "Hey Boy" 1986 / Billboard dance chart Breakout Hit #2 with a bullet which also garnered a Billboard Dance Trax write-up....

1988 I began writing songs with Teddy Riley in the early days of New Jack Swing and we continued to make hits all through the 1990's....

"Is It Good To You" for the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack "JUICE" Certified Gold....

Award winninig Songwriter and Publisher for "JOY" co-written with Michael Jackson and Teddy Riley 1996 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards....

Secured Recording Deals with Capitol Records/MCA Records/Interscope Records

Co-wrote with Tribe and J.Dilla on 1nce Again/A Tribe Called Quest feat. myself; and in 1997 it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group....

1992-1998 I shared my musicianship with the Neptunes by teaching them the finer points of hit songwriting and production. I used my professional experience and trained musical ear to listen to and assess the many instrumental tacks they created; as well as extended my talents by co-writting and recording countless songs with Pharell and Chad from their early days just before they graduated high school, until their 1st hit "Super Thug/NORE featuring myself. What started as a mentor mentee relationship, in 2-3 years time developed in to a writting team. 1994 -1998 I attended daily Neptune studio sessions at Future's B room, Chad's parents home, Windmark studios and several others. Together we created several compilation projects and tons of cool songs. Musically I took the young Neptunes under my wings and nurtured thier talents; and I'm proud to say, played a major role in the developement the Neptune sound....

I love music so much. Its in my blood. I love speaking the language of music to other musicians through melodies and lyrics. I love listening to beautiful music and I love just about every genre. Music is one of the true joys of life and my soul is overflowing with all the music I've studied; while at the same time I'm excited to learn even more....

I started teaching in 1992 when I met both high school seniors, Pharrell & Chad and their group before they even had the Neptune name....

After they won a local talent show I influenced Teddy Riley to let them work with me on my up coming album at the time; and I convinced T. R. to sign them to their 1st professional deal....

Pharrell was super passionate and persistant about working with me at the time; which lead to me commiting myself to a daily series of songwriting and recording sessions with them that lasted 6 years 1992-1998....

After working with me closely for 6 years straight; in 1998 The Neptune Production team had gained professional status....

I started singing alto from age 7-12 in the children's church choir / I studied Classical voice with Mary Linsey at the Harlem School of the Arts /I also studied voice lessons with Tom Bridwell (Musical Director of Broadway production of the WIZ) I studied 80's Club music at the legendary Paradise Garage/NYC with the Maestro Larry Levan; and I grew up during the birth of Hip Hop in Sugar Hill Harlem....

Then later went on to make history with many legendary producers; Boyd Jarvis & Timmy Regisford /Teddy Riley/The Neptunes.... And in 2014 Pharrell credits me with teaching him how to write songs on his Breakfastclub interview....

I aslo had the good fortune to create music with Q-Tip / The Legendary J. Dilla / Marly Marl and many others....

About the lesson

My process is to learn what the student's vision and goal is for themselves and material/song/track. Listen to and assess the material presented....

For beginners new to songwriting; again I listen to their vision and learn their music references, then design a curriculim tailor made to enhance & aide to the development of their song writing craft....
