About Eric

Hi! Im Eric Smith or also known as MceeClockwork (or Clockwork) which is my music alias. Born and raised in Az, currently living in PHX. I've been making music for 15 years now with a focus on Rap/Hip Hop Genre as well as some EDM, Jazz and Funk. I'm a rappper/mcee, DJ, producer, and sound engineer as well. I've been a writer for about 24 years now, 15 of that is song writing- structing a song, understanding rhyme schemes and syllable patterns.

Creative and hard working. Driven and ambitious. Analytic problem solver, out of the box thinker, with a passion for business and marketing and a deep love of creating and performing music.

I've been teaching music since college. Doing private Dj lessons and recording sessions as a source of income but also because I love teaching people. It comes naturally to me coming from parents who were career artists, teachers, and professors.

I've been writing, recording, DJing, producing, mixing and mastering records for 15 years now. I went to college for music business and studied sound engineering for 4 years. Worked in and helped run and operate a few different studios, including my own. Have taken many song writing and poetry classes from well established singer and song writer over the years. I've worked for and owned my own entertainment company. Dj'd and have done live performances for weddings, high end events, clubs, private parties and corporate events. I can show you how to create a set, mix, beat juggle, and scratch on vinyl and control vinyl. I also can freestyle and have done hundreds of live performances over the years so I can also help with how to get booked, and get better as a live artist.

About the lesson

I first like to know the experience of the student. What they are looking to get out of the lesson. I then can craft my lesson to the students needs. I'll give the student an assignment or skills they can practice and then review before the next lesson.

I've worked with all different types of students from beginners to more advanced students to professionals.

Find someone that you're comfortable working with and respect their artform or skill. The atmosphere should be fun but challenging. You should look forward to the lessons and should feel as though you're being mentored not just taught.
