I started a little over a year ago taking lessons with Lily as a complete beginner with no music reading skills and little musicality. Today I can sight read and have progressed faster than my peers due to her excellent teaching style and knowledge. She taught me the fundamental techniques so mostly I produce a beautiful sound so I love to practice, and she guides me w/etudes and exercises geared towards growing specific skills. She also makes it fun, finding pieces to work on outside of Suzuki too that I love. She is kind, positive and encouraging, even when I get frustrated or reach a plateau. She helps me to isolate the issue, work through it and get better. She knows when to broach musical theory so I understand a piece better. I’ve had a blast when we’ve recorded videos of pieces we’ve played together for holidays. Friends and family, even other violinists are surprised by how much I’ve learned in just a year. She inspires me to want to play better and stretch my capabilities. It’s all Lily. If you want to get better faster (don’t we all?) then I highly recommend her!
