About Ike

Ike Sae-Tang graduated from Stetson University with a degree in music performance in viola and studied with Dr. Jesus Alfonzo. During his time at Stetson, Ike performed with the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Stetson Opera Theatre under the baton of Anthony Hose, which allowed him to perform a wide array of pieces in many styles. Along with large ensembles, Ike has also performed in several chamber ensembles through university as well as high-school, and he is quite passionate about chamber music as he finds that it is a critical part of any well-rounded musician’s development.

Like most music educators, Ike believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and be exposed to the ever-growing world of classical music, whether they are in grade school or a thirty-five-year-old paraprofessional. Being involved in classical music should also be accessible to everyone from different backgrounds, and although it might not become someone’s whole future it could become an integral part of their life.

As an educator, Ike draws his inspiration from not only his teachers Dr. Jesus Alfonzo and Erik Bryan, but also from pedagogues such as Ivan Galamian, Pinchas Zukerman, Mimi Zweig as well as many other well-known figures and teachers.

About the lesson

Foundational Techniques

- How to hold the instrument

- Posture when playing the instrument

- Learning left hand and right hand technique separately before bringing them together

- Basic bow strokes

- Reading music and basic music music theory

- Beginners will typically start off with thirty minute lessons

I've worked with students typically from age 12 to 18 that come from many backgrounds . I will occasionally work with students in the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra as well as assist with their annual summer strings program.

A good teacher should be able to develop a curriculum that is catered towards every individual student. Every student is different and should be able to learn at their own pace.
