About Tami
Tami started her music education on the Accordion and during middle school moved over to the orchestra. She started the University track in Music Education, but a car accident caused some arm and muscle damage and playing the Viola ended quite abruptly. She joined the Air Force, married and raised a family serving in Europe and the United States as a USAF spouse for twenty years. At the end of the military life, she returned to school to create the dream. Back on Viola, she earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education, a Master’s in Music Pedagogy and Performance and 33 credits towards a Special Education Accreditation. Tami has worked as an orchestra and elementary music classroom teacher as well as community youth orchestras and summer camps. Professionally, Viola is her main instrument with Violin as an equal second particularly focusing in the folk genre. She can perform and teach Cello and Bass as well! Tami has performed in orchestras in Minnesota, Illinois, Alabama, Washington and Virginia.
Music isn’t just about learning how to play instrument; it is a tool to experience life because everywhere you go someone plays music and wants to jam and there is no better communication tool than the music language.
Learning new tunes, seeing the excitement when someone gets it and playing music with others.
