About Martyn

I am passionate about the transformational power of Yoga and strongly believe in the

power of human connection. With every practice I strive to supply students with tools

to release stress, build concentration and physical strength. Having practiced all over

the world I have first hand experience learning from multicultural teachers with different styles of teaching, providing me with a well rounded teaching structure.

I have a YOGA ALLIANCE RYT 200 certification that I received under Gerhard Gessner at Prana yoga in La Jolla and have been sharing my practice for the last 2 years locally here in San Diego.

Currently I teach at SOL yoga in La Jolla, Mission Beach yoga in Mission Beach and run a yoga meetup group with around 750 members (concealed information)

I got inspired to teach while travelling through Southeast Asia a few years ago. After experiencing first hand the life changing practices of yoga overseas I was inspired to bring and share that with my students. I always find inspiration in my travels and try to incorporte that in my yoga practice and teaching.

I have been teaching at multiple studios in San Diego for the past few years and also run a meetup group with around 750 members. I am certified by Yoga alliance and always continuing my experience with text and online education.

About the lesson

The typical process when starting with a student is to first find out a little about their body and what they are looking to achieve. I then like to build a vinyasa sequence that will work directly with their needs and help them achieve thier goals. During the process I strongly believe in educating on the fundamentals of Yoga and how it changes our lives in more ways than one. I like to adjust and make sure students are doing the asanas (postures) in proper alignment to be safe and get the most out of the pose.

I have worked with students that range from high school students to individuals that have great life experience.

I would always advise that a student really find a teacher that they find inspiration in. Someone that can bring a positive energy into their life and can help them along in their journey.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Yoga attracts many different types of individuals with many different "goals", and these goals may change throughout their journey. I think that if you are interested in yoga, starting a consistent practice is the hardest part, but most rewarding. I would not overthink it in the beginning :)
