About Alex
I’m a professional chef with over 30 years’ experience as a vegetarian and more than 10 years as a vegan. I’ve worked across education, catering and professional training, including roles in secondary schools, the hospitality sector and as Principal Tutor at The Vegetarian Society Cookery School.
I’m passionate about helping people feel confident in the kitchen, especially when learning vegan cooking and baking for the first time. Plant-based cookery doesn’t need to be complicated, and I enjoy breaking techniques down into clear, practical steps that actually work at home.
I teach because I believe good food can improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. Through my work delivering vegetarian and vegan training – including in the care sector – I’ve seen how thoughtful, well-prepared food really matters. My aim is to share that knowledge in a friendly, supportive way, so learners can build skills, ask questions and enjoy the process as much as the results.

Learn the fundamentals of vegan baking and plant-based cookery with a professional chef in live, interactive online lessons.
Alex is a highly experienced chef with over 30 years as a vegetarian and 10 years as a vegan. Formerly the Principal Tutor at The Vegetarian Society Cookery School, Alex has taught students of all levels, trained professional chefs, and delivered specialist vegetarian and vegan cookery education across the UK.
Lessons are taught live online via MS Teams and are ideal for beginners or those looking to build confidence with vegan baking and cooking. Sessions focus on clear guidance, practical techniques and understanding ingredients, so you can follow the basics first – then start getting creative.
Topics can include vegan cakes and bakes, savoury dishes, flavour building and essential plant-based techniques. Teaching is friendly, supportive and easy to follow, with time for questions or observation.
Lesson format:
- Live online via MS Teams
- 1.5-hour sessions
- Small groups (maximum 6 learners) for personal attention
