About Mariah
Meet Mariah My name is Mariah, and I’m a passionate music educator and performer currently completing my Bachelor of Music at York University, specializing in Classical voice. With years of experience teaching voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, and trumpet, I’ve worked with students of all ages and skill levels—from shy beginners to confident performers. I take great pride in creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel safe to grow, explore, and express themselves musically. My background includes classical training, contemporary performance, and hands-on teaching in both group and private settings. Whether we’re working on vocal technique, learning chords, or playing your favorite song, I’m committed to helping each student reach their full musical potential. My goal is not just to teach music, but to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

As a tutor, I believe that learning music should be both structured and inspiring. My teaching approach is rooted in building solid technique while allowing space for creativity and personal expression. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals, whether that’s learning to play their first song, preparing for a school performance, or working toward a conservatory exam.
A typical lesson includes warm-ups, skill-building exercises (like scales or chord progressions), ear training, and time with repertoire—songs or pieces chosen to match the student’s level and musical interests. I also integrate theory and sight reading naturally into the lesson to build confidence and musical fluency.
What sets me apart is my ability to adapt to each student's learning style. With a background in both classical and contemporary music, I make sure students not only play or sing, but understand the music they’re working on. I bring patience, encouragement, and energy into every lesson.
My lessons are open to all ages and levels—from beginners picking up their first instrument to intermediate students looking to refine technique or expand their repertoire. Whether you’re into classical, pop, R&B, worship music, or just want to build your skills at your own pace, we’ll make sure you leave each lesson feeling proud and motivated.
