About Alana
Sometimes I think back to my early days of playing, which feels like yesterday. After completing my degree at Yale, I transitioned into a life of teaching from my Los Angeles home studio.
My years of performing classical music taught me that shifting positions requires patience. I work with grade exam candidates and hobbyists who want to refine their tone production. Teaching 406 students has allowed me to see exactly where tuning by ear gets difficult. I find that rhythm and timing are the biggest hurdles for most.
Learning double stops should be an accessible challenge for everyone. Developing your scales and arpeggios is quite manageable. Please feel free to reach out if you want to start.

Practicing the violin is far more enjoyable when you have a clear roadmap for your technical development. Because I have dedicated 13 years to this instrument, I understand that the most difficult passages are often the ones that require the most patience to refine. During our time together, you will utilize recorded playback of tricky passages for home practice to ensure that your progress continues long after we finish our session. We will also integrate music theory and ear training to help you better understand the nuance within your bowing technique.
This comprehensive approach ensures that you are building habits that will last for your entire musical journey. I enjoy helping my students discover the clarity they need to play with confidence.
