About Candy
As a motivated and educated high school math tutor, I bring compassion and professionalism to each session. I recognize that math can be intimidating, which is why I strive to provide a calm, supportive environment where students can ask questions and study at their own pace. My approach is systematic and student-centered, with straightforward explanations and real-world examples to help students. I've worked with students at all ability levels, from those who need to catch up to those preparing for high-stakes tests like the SAT or ACT. My goal is not simply to enhance my grades, but also to develop long-term confidence.

I engage in high school math tutoring and make sure that each lesson is simple, clear, and easy to understand. I recognize that classroom teachers frequently move too fast, so I use a slower, more calculated approach that corresponds to the student's speed and learning type. My goal is to assist students in genuinely comprehending each topic rather than simply memorizing instructions, so that they can gain confidence and develop their skills over time. I am patient, supportive, and willing to clarify things multiple times if necessary. Whether a student is struggling with algebra, I walk them through the topic step by step, using real-world situations to make math more relevant and less daunting. A typical 30-minute to one-hour session begins with a 5- to 10-minute warm-up to recap previous subjects or work through a brief problem. Then we spend about 20-30 minutes explaining the new information in simple words, using examples from everyday life. The remainder of the session is dedicated to practice, with the student working through issues while I provide advice, feedback, and encouragement. My courses are intended for high school students in grades 9-12, especially those preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT, as well as anyone who requires additional time and support to catch up and succeed in math class.
