About Madison

I am a passionate educator with years of industry and teaching experience. I often receive positive feedback from students regarding my patience and clear communication. I am very adaptable to my students' needs and understand the importance of providing multiple ways to learn and teach through guided practice and different modes of instruction.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is very explicit and I will scaffold and guide students to gradually build their skills and independence. Lesson lengths depend on students' needs, with minimum 1hr and maximum 2hr sessions. I have an undergraduate degree in Fashion and Textile Design and a postgraduate Master of Teaching (Secondary) with approval to teach Textiles and Design and Technology. Throughout my career, I have worked in bespoke tailoring and fashion houses in Sydney and London where I gained skills in pattern making, garment construction, fittings, production management, and design. Additionally, I worked several years in digital fabric printing, where I designed seamless repeating textiles and ran workshops teaching these skills using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I am now a Secondary teacher and my classroom experience has developed my skills and expertise catering to varying learning needs and interests. My diverse experience allows me to cater to a range of age and skill levels.

Perfect! Maddison is such a wonderful sewing teacher. She is patient, warm and so knowledgeable, and she always makes me feel calm and confident, even when I’m learning something new. I genuinely look forward to every session with her. Her teaching style is gentle and encouraging, and she explains everything in a way that actually makes sense.
