About Abi

Hi I am Abi! I have been working in the industry as a product developer/ garment technologist for 5 years within the luxury womenswear market. I want to share my knowledge of the industry positively, tutoring anyone that wants to improve their studies or fulfil a hobby. I offer private tutoring as well as a selection of fun and sociable workshops. Drop me a message to find out more!

About the lesson

My teaching method is fun, hands on and very visual. Learning about the creative process means doing it and trying things for yourself. I will encourage experimentation in order to find your best inner fashion designer. Patience is key as ideas aren’t going to form straight away, they take building on concepts and design drawings in order to flourish into something exciting. What I can teach: concept building, design drawings; initial and secondary, sewing techniques and construction and pattern cutting, editing patterns and making patterns.

Perfect! I needed to make a dress for my friend's wedding in under 2 weeks so I was panickedly trying to find a tutor tgat would help me understand the pattern and guide me through the more technical bits. Abi was great at explaining and struck a good balance between showing me and getting me to do things. Very happy with the dress!

Perfect! Perfect! So so happy to finally find a perfect sewing tutor! Abi really cares for what you want to learn/make and puts all the effort to make it happen, she is very attentive, responsible, hardworking and fun to work with! It is incredible how much you learn from her just in a few hours and I would recommend her to anyone!

Perfect! So so happy to finally find a perfect sewing tutor! Perfect! Our experience with Abi was a complete success in every respect.

We contacted Abi to arrange a private tutoring experience at our office/showroom, which we hoped to arrange on fairly short notice. Communicating with Abi before the tutoring session was both easy and reassuring as Abi responded quickly to all messages, providing useful and complete information in all of her replies. She showed a complete understanding of what we required and was completely flexible in making herself available for the tutorial that we required.

In providing the tutorial we requested, Abi was fantastic. She was easy to communicate with and so very helpful: she suggested recording tutorial videos and explained everything both clearly and concisely.
