About Selma

Welcome! I'm Selma, an enthusiastic undergraduate student passionate about helping others excel in mathematics. Having taught throughout high school and university, I have developed a strong foundation in math and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. I offer personalized tutoring for students in grades 1-8.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology and Techniques
As a tutor, I take a collaborative approach, where my students and I learn together. I believe that learning should be engaging and fun, so I incorporate interactive techniques such as problem-solving activities, real-life examples, and games to make math more relatable. My goal is to simplify complex topics, breaking them down into easily digestible steps, ensuring my students understand the underlying concepts rather than just memorizing formulas.

A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of the previous session to assess retention and address any lingering questions. Next, I introduce the new topic, starting with a simple explanation and then working through examples together. I encourage students to ask questions throughout to keep it interactive. Once the fundamentals are covered, we dive into practice problems, applying the concepts in various ways. I wrap up each session with a recap, highlighting key points, and I assign light, targeted practice for reinforcement.

What sets me apart is my collaborative, student-centered approach. I focus on making the learning process enjoyable and engaging, which keeps my students motivated and curious.
