About Awande

Hello! I am a passionate final-year B.Ed student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), specializing in the Intermediate and Senior Phase. I am currently completing my teaching degree with majors in Mathematics, Social Sciences, English FAL, and IsiZulu Home Language. My strongest subjects are Mathematics and Social Sciences.

Through my recent teaching practicals, I have gained valuable hands-on experience working with diverse learners in real classroom environments. As a young and dedicated educator, I bring fresh energy and modern teaching methods while maintaining high professional standards.

I am committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where every learner feels confident to participate and grow. My goal is to make Mathematics and Social Sciences accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful by connecting concepts to real life and using interactive activities.

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring is learner-centred and highly interactive. I focus on making lessons enjoyable and meaningful by using creative teaching methods, real-life examples, hands-on activities, and games to explain concepts. What makes me unique is my energetic and patient style combined with recent classroom experience from teaching practicals, I adapt quickly to different learning styles and help learners overcome their specific challenges while building strong confidence.
I am proficient in teaching in English and IsiZulu, allowing me to explain difficult concepts in the language the learner understands best.
In a typical lesson, students can expect a well-structured session that starts with a quick review, followed by clear explanations, guided practice, and independent activities. I incorporate regular feedback and use simple assessments to track progress.
My lessons are aimed at Intermediate Phase learners (Grades 4–6) in Mathematics and Social Sciences (History and Geography). They are ideal for students who need extra support, want to improve their results, or are looking to build a solid foundation in these subjects. I welcome learners of all abilities, including those who find the subjects challenging or want to excel.
