About Jez

Hi, I’m Jez. I’m a Spanish and German graduate with a First-Class degree from the University of Leeds, and I offer friendly, practical language tutoring for GCSE students, beginners and adult learners.

I have always been passionate about languages, travel and different cultures. As part of my degree and wider experience, I spent time living, studying and working in Spanish and German-speaking environments, including time in Hamburg, where I taught Spanish, English and German. That experience helped me understand how to explain languages clearly, adapt lessons to different levels, and make students feel more confident using a language in real life.

I also have a professional background in finance, where a large part of my role involved training others, explaining complex topics clearly, and helping colleagues understand new technology, AI tools and business processes. This has shaped my teaching style: structured, patient, practical and focused on making difficult topics feel much more manageable.

My approach is relaxed, encouraging and confidence-focused. I know that learning a language can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to speaking, grammar or exams, so I aim to create lessons that feel clear, useful and supportive from the start.

Whether you are studying for GCSE, starting from scratch, refreshing your Spanish or German, or looking to build confidence in conversation, I’ll tailor lessons to your level, goals and learning style.

About the lesson

My lessons are friendly, practical and confidence-focused. I aim to make Spanish and German feel clear, manageable and enjoyable, especially for students who may find languages intimidating at school.

I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and goals. For GCSE students, I can help with grammar, vocabulary, speaking practice, writing structure, listening and reading techniques, and exam preparation. I also focus on building confidence for speaking assessments, which is often the part students find most stressful.

For beginner and adult learners, I take a practical approach based around useful language, pronunciation, everyday conversation and understanding how the grammar works without making it feel overwhelming.

A typical lesson lasts one hour, although I can offer shorter introductory sessions if preferred. Lessons usually include a mix of explanation, guided practice, speaking activities, vocabulary building and a clear plan for what to work on next.

I have a First-Class degree in Spanish and German from the University of Leeds, as well as experience living and studying in Spanish and German-speaking environments. My lessons are suitable for GCSE students, beginners, adult learners, and anyone looking to improve their confidence with Spanish or German.
