About Liliana

I am a First Class Politics and Spanish BA (Hons) graduate from the University of Exeter, where I achieved a Distinction in Spoken Spanish and a Dean's Commendation for Exceptional Performance. I am trilingual, speaking English, Spanish and Polish, which has given me a broader perspective on learning and using different languages.

Alongside my academic background, I have worked as an English tutor in Madrid and volunteered at university as a peer mentor for a group of first-year Spanish students. I also spent my year abroad living and working in Chile, where I used Spanish daily and in an office environment.

These experiences have given me exposure to Spanish in academic, everyday and professional contexts, as well as experience supporting students at different stages of their studies.

About the lesson

Sessions can focus on conversation and pronunciation, grammar and writing, exam technique, or a combination of these areas. Having studied Spanish at both GCSE and A-Level, I am familiar with the course structure, assessment criteria and mark schemes, so for exam-focused lessons we can work on the specific skills and techniques required for each part of the exam.

At the start, I like to discuss what you would like to achieve so that lessons can be planned around clear goals. I prepare sessions in advance and use a range of activities, including speaking practice and written exercises. Where useful, I can also suggest further practice between lessons to reinforce what we have covered.

Having learnt from Spanish tutors myself and studied the language at university, I can also draw on different approaches to explain topics and structure lessons. My time in Spain and Chile means I can incorporate everyday spoken Spanish alongside the academic side of the language.
