About Alina

Hey, I’m Alina! I’m a first-year Medical student at the University of Adelaide and graduated high school with an ATAR of 99.65. Having recently been through the SACE system myself, I understand the pressure that comes with setting ambitious academic goals and trying to achieve them. I also know first-hand that getting good results is not just about working hard. It is about knowing how to study effectively, where to focus your time and how to approach different types of questions.

My approach to tutoring is focused on making sure students genuinely understand what they are learning, rather than relying on memorization or simply following a set method. I like to work out where a student is at, identify what is holding them back and focus on the areas that will make the biggest difference. I also adapt the way I teach depending on the student, because everyone learns differently and there is no single approach that works for everyone.

I want my students to have a clear idea of what they are working towards and feel confident in their ability to get there. Whether they want to improve their grades, strengthen their understanding or push themselves towards their highest possible result, I want to help them make real progress while becoming more confident and independent learners.

Outside of study, I spend a lot of my time playing volleyball and soccer. Sport has always been a big part of my life, and I think that balance is important, especially when academics can start to feel like they take over everything. I know how much of a difference it can make to have goals outside of school as well, and I want my students to be able to work hard while still making time for the things they enjoy.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to the individual student. I take the time to understand their goals, identify what is holding them back and build from there. The lessons will focus on genuinely understanding the content, developing strong problem-solving and study skills and building confidence through practice. As the student progresses, I adapt our approach to keep challenging them and target the areas that will make the biggest difference. The goal is to not simply improve their next result, but to give them the skills and confidence to continue improving.
