About Ella

I am an English literature and history graduate from Edinburgh University. This coming year I will be completing my PGDE in English to become a teacher and have a passion for education and supporting students. For me tutoring would be a great opportunity to provide personalised support for students of all abilities, and I know it would be a pleasure to be able to support students in their learning of a subject I am so passionate about myself.
I received an 8 and 9 in English literature and language at GCSE, as well as a 9 in the AQA history course. Furthermore, I obtained 3 A*'s at A-Level in English Literature, History and psychology.

Previously I have helped as a classroom assistant in a year 7/ S1 classroom, supporting students in need of extra support within a mixed ability class. This experience enlightened myself to the benefits of 1-2-1 support for students which encouraged me to pursue tutoring as a way to make a positive impact on students of all abilities education.

I’d like to support students to be able to achieve their full potential whilst studying English as it is a crucial subject in our curriculum, as well as being an area I am passionate about. As a tutor I would aim to support the students with one on one assistance that cannot be gained in the typical classroom, enabling them to understand and enjoy English as much as I do! I would be keen to work with students of all abilities on any range of skills such as comprehension, essay skills and analysis. As a tutor I would be happy to support with any areas which need a little assistance, and would endeavour to be a supportive and patient support to students education outside of the typical classroom environment.

About the lesson

As a tutor I would love to support students with all of their learning needs for English, and could also help with general essay skills for other subjects - particularly history. Furthermore, I could help with understanding, comprehension, literary skills and general enjoyment of English! I would to be able to support students with their exams, enabling them to feel confident in their subject skills and knowledge. I would take time to work on my students difficulties and support them to grow and achieve to their fullest potential.
I would be able to offer to support students struggling with revision methods, homework and essay writing. As well as this I would create resources and notes to help aid the learning and revision of the courses. I would also offer sessions focussing on papers to assist with exam skills and timing difficulties.
My hours are l flexible and lessons are available from 45 minutes and up to 2 hours. Location can be flexible, or online, for the convenience of the student.

Perfect! Ella is knowledgeable in both English and History, a great listener as well as explaining things clearly. She has helped my son focus on study skills and preparation for his exams and he feels the sessions are defijitely worthwhile which is great praise from a teenager.
