About Freya

I am a dedicated violin tutor with 5 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about helping students develop technical proficiency, musical creativity, and self-confidence.

I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners discovering their first notes to advanced learners preparing for recitals, exams, and competitions.

One of the highlights of my career has been seeing students transform from hesitant beginners into confident performers who can play with skill, emotion, and expression.

My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and emotional connection.

I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding of music.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore and grow. Teaching violin allows me to instil discipline, confidence, and a lifelong passion for music in every student.

About the lesson

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create lessons that are both structured and flexible, balancing technical skill development with creative expression.

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, including exercises, improvisation, and performance preparation.

Motivation is the foundation of my teaching. I help students set meaningful goals, monitor progress, and celebrate achievements. This instils perseverance, engagement, and self-confidence, encouraging students to embrace challenges and recognise the value of effort and practice.

Communication is essential. I maintain an open, supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing concerns, asking questions, and exploring ideas. This collaboration strengthens the teacher-student relationship and enhances learning.

Creativity is woven into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to discover their personal artistic voice and form a deeper emotional connection with music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, fostering habits that ensure consistent progress and long-term excellence.
