About Rosalind
I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where I read music, and the Royal Northern College of Music where I achieved MMus with distinction, and was an ABRSM scholar. I am an experienced and passionate teacher, having taught flute and recorder privately for a number of years and also teaching classroom music in a local all-through school (age 2-18). I am currently pursuing a doctorate in music education, with a focus on Dalcroze Eurthythmics, an approach to music education which uses the moving, sensing body to educate the whole person - musical, artistic and social. I teach Dalcroze musicianship at Junior Guildhall, a specialist Saturday school for young musicians.
I am a supportive and enthusiastic tutor who has a great deal of varied experience, including working with children and people of all ages.

I a flute and recorder teacher based in Richmond. I am very experienced in teaching children aged 3 to teenagers as well as adults where I focus on cultivating musicianship and a love of music!
I draw on my training in Dalcroze Eurythmics and Kodaly musicianship to ensure all-round musical development, and a joy of learning and music making! I teach Dalcroze at Junior Guildhall, as part of the musicianship learning for these primary school-aged musicians.
am currently researching Dalcroze as part of a PhD in music education.
My flute lessons will typically begin by finding the relationship between the flute, the body, and the sound, before exploring repertoire in various ways. My lessons are very interactive, asking questions to get my students thinking for themselves and developing their own musical and critical thinking. I also use Dalcroze exercises to find infinite ways of exploring the music away from the instrument, to ensure the student develops a deep and intuitive understanding of music.
I am very experienced with teaching on Zoom, having developed a number of techniques over the years.
