About Annette
I am a consultant clinical scientist with experience of working in radiotherapy in the UK, South Africa, Botswana and New Zealand. In the past 5 years I've tutored various registrars who went on to pass the FRCR Physics paper. A few years ago one of the trainees told me that she appreciated me giving her the time to work out the answer to the question and having the patience to wait until she got there. I am not above giving some hints, though ;-)

I tutor Physics for registrars preparing for their FRCR exams as part of my job role. I also support trainee clinical scientists during their STP placements in radiotherapy. My teaching method is based on my belief that once someone understands how things work, Physics becomes less frightening. I aim to get tutees to the point where they are able to work their way through a problem and get to the correct answer based on their knowledge of the basics. I do not believe in regurgitating whatever is written in a textbook; at postgraduate level I expect people to be able to read and identify for themselves what it is they do and do not understand. I am, however, very happy to spend as much time as needed to explain stuff, as otherwise there is no benefit for the tutee. My tutees decide which topics they want to discuss. Once we've worked through the theoretical aspects, they use that knowledge to solve problems from past papers. This allows me to check that they understand the work and would be able to answer questions under exam conditions.

Very patient , extremely knowledgeable .Perfect! Annette has really helped me by changing my approach to studying for the physics exam. I have been able to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts discussed in Farr's and am more confident with applying the knowledge I've gained to answering questions. She has provided me with a multitude of resources to aid with my learning and in general is incredibly accommodating, supportive and patient.
