About Leo
I'm Leo Morland, professional musician and third year jazz student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I started playing the guitar at age 10, and quickly developed a passion for music, practicing and playing several hours a day. I began playing in bands at age 13, and have been living my life around music ever since, having been performing and teaching since age 16, and continually developing myself as a musician and educator. I want to share the fulfilment I have found through the guitar and music with others.

I teach all levels and styles of contemporary guitar, from folk to jazz, rock to pop. I also teach classical guitar to beginner students. I use the music you or your child is interested in to explain key concepts about the guitar and the inner workings of music, with the aim to leave you with both a thorough and detailed understanding of the artists and songs you love to listen to, and practical skills on the guitar that will enable you to play music you love, create and improvise your own music, and share the infinite joy of music making with listeners and fellow musicians alike. My approach has been developed over the course of 5 years of teaching experience and 11 years of practicing and playing.
I understand that practicing can be frustrating at first, so I will break down the steps you need to take to improve on the guitar into manageable chunks that will allow for noticeable progression with just 10-40 minutes a day of focused practice. Music making should be fun, and I place an emphasis on enabling freedom on the guitar as soon as possible, so you can truly *play* the guitar with ease and enjoyment. You may find yourself practicing more than 40 minutes a day as you improve and the guitar becomes a source of joy, inspiration and an outlet for your emotions.
Complete beginners, intermediate players and experts alike will all gain from these lessons. I teach all ages from 8 up, and lessons can be 30 minutes or an hour.
