About Valentina

Hi! I'm a fourth-year psychology student with a minor in French studies (equivalent to B2 CELF level). As a former French immersion student, I have experience going through the system and learning French from ground zero.
Although I don't have much tutoring experience, I have extensive experience working in customer-service environments which have helped me learn the communication and leadership skills necessary to be an amazing tutor. I am also passionate working with children and love to personalize lessons to maximize their learning.

I have over a year of experience as a teaching assistant in a third-grade classroom where I mentored students with emotional regulation difficulties. As a recent TEFL graduate, I learned new teaching techniques specifically geared towards language learning, both for in-person and remote learning.

About the lesson

My main focus is on applying what students know to real-world situations to allow their use of French to be more applicable. As such, my lessons tend to be more conversational-based, yet still structured to allow for the application of French grammar.

As a former French immersion student myself, I understand the strengths and weaknesses of the system, which will allow your child to get the help they need to succeed! As a recent TEFL certificate graduate, I am trained to create lesson plans, equipped with modern teaching techniques creating engaging activities that help with language learning.

My typical lesson uses a combination of activities, songs, games and reading to help the student apply their vocabulary in different situations. All tutoring sessions are personalized towards the student's strengths and weaknesses, as well as their interests.
