About Archie
Teaching Art is about developing the creativity of the student. I will ensure that you return to education with a developed theoretical knowledge of the subject and a confidence to critically analyse your work and others. This teaching is incredibly important to your development in any area you decide to excel in your life.
The lessons will also teach you about your own interests and offer you insightful knowledge on those interests. The lessons will also show you what studying art at University or foundation level will consist of. From personal experience the earlier you understand your creative mind, the more beautiful and exciting life becomes.

The lessons will take on the form of crits (critical evaluation). This style of teaching is only introduced during foundation level or degree level, however the earlier the student understands this form of teaching the faster they will excel in higher education.
The student will prepare for each lesson with new ideas to discuss and develop together. Each week I will recommend artists, texts, exhibitions related personally to the particular student's work. This will keep the student engaged with the content and help develop their personal practice.
The student will leave each lesson with personalised tasks for the next week to ensure they understand the importance of generating work and developing ideas. These tasks will also incorporate seeking creativity within everyday experiences.
I myself studied a foundation before going to Central Saint Martins and felt there was a big leap between Art studies in early education and foundation/university, I also felt that much of the teaching of early education wasn't anywhere near advanced enough for those who want to send their child to the more prestigious art schools. The earlier the styles of teaching and thought processes are introduced the higher chance of acceptance from the more prestigious courses. Not only will the student be more prepared for university but they will have their own personally developed Art projects and a portfolio that puts them at an advantage.
