About Josephine

Hi! My name is Joséphine, I’m 22 years old and originally from Paris, France. I recently graduated from Dartmouth College in the United States and am now pursuing my Master’s degree at Imperial Business School in London. I have several years of experience teaching French through my role as a French Teaching Assistant at Dartmouth, where I led three classes each week for groups of 6–10 students, focusing on vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and conversational skills. I also have extensive experience working with younger children: I hold the BAFA, a French childcare qualification, and have worked in a daycare centre tutoring children aged 5–13 across a variety of subjects, as well as working at several summer camps. I’m enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about creating fun and engaging lessons where students feel comfortable participating. I want to teach because I love sharing my language and culture and helping students discover that learning French can be both useful and enjoyable.

About the lesson

My lessons are focused above all on helping you feel comfortable and confident speaking French in real-life situations. I believe the best way to learn a language is to actually use it, so my classes are dynamic and include
many opportunities for natural conversation, adapted to your level, interests, and goals. I have experience teaching French to Dartmouth College students using the Rassias Method, which places a strong emphasis on active participation, speaking, repetition, and building confidence. Alongside conversation, we will work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and useful expressions to give you the tools to communicate accurately and naturally. Rather than focusing only on textbook French, I want to teach you the French you will actually use, whether that means ordering at a restaurant, making conversation with French speakers, travelling, studying, or feeling more comfortable in a French-speaking environment. My goal is for you to leave each lesson not only knowing more French, but feeling more confident using it.
Lesson length & students: My lessons are one hour long, giving us enough time to combine conversation, interactive activities, and focused work on grammar and vocabulary. I particularly enjoy teaching young children and beginners.
