About Thu

I have recently started tutoring this year. My first two students under me, studied secondary 2 science. Just recently, one received B4 for his end of year exams for science from failing grades in WA1 and WA2 respectively, while the other achieved A1. My family have been running a home tuition business for many years, where my mother teaches Mathematics. I aspire to follow her footsteps in tutoring mathematics and physics. During Junior College, I performed outstandingly well in Mathematics, Physics and H1 Chemistry. I achieved best academic performance for H1 Chemistry and H2 Physics in the promotional examinations. I understand that I am still relatively new in tutoring, However, I hope to engage with more prospective students to help them achieve their desired grades, while gaining experience.

About the lesson

My teaching pedagogy: For Science subjects such as physics, I would first let the student understand the bare minimum content, and practice some examples to consolidate understanding. After which, I would do Ten-year-series topical practice and other past year school papers and revision packages/worksheets. The first few times they will make plenty mistakes; I will them make them familiarise with the answer scheme and highlight the keywords. They will then redo the practices until their answer matches 80-90% of the answer scheme, by then they would have successfully acquired the necessary answering techniques in tacking exam questions. In summary, my method of teaching is to help students be familiar and proficient in tackling exam-type questions.
