About Sophie

I am 22 years old and have been dancing for 16 years. I began taking ballet classes at my local school in Galway at the age of 6 and moved to Scotland at the age of 17 to begin professional training. I have a BA in Ballet and a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teacher's qualification. I love ballet and enjoy instilling that love in others.

About the lesson

I will tailor the lesson to suit your objectives. Classes generally begin with a short warmup, followed by some barre work (any support will do; such as a countertop or chair) and centre work. We will do a short movement phrase implementing some of the elements of the class and also allowing you to further explore your artistry. We will conclude with a brief cooldown. Do not worry if you have limited space. Lockdown has taught me that dancers can still learn in the smallest of spaces! I personalise the methodology to meet your individual needs, however, as I am a qualified RAD teacher, I lean towards the English method. A lesson is typically 45 minutes. I worked as a teaching assistant at a children's ballet summer camp, I taught children ballet at a kid's club in a resort in Greece, and I coached 2 of my colleagues (contemporary dancers) in ballet as they wanted to improve their skills.
