About Maia
Over my time of three years of competition in Speech and Debate tournaments nationwide, I rose to the position of Oregon's number one competitor (as per NSDA points), gave a TedX talk about education reform for students with learning differences and disabilities, and performed at weekly tournaments (including the NSDA nationals and the Tournament of Champions) all around the country.
I also worked as a semi-professional spoken word poet, and have competed at national and international tournaments (at both high school and college level). I have been hired to perform at private engagements and have even performed original poetry on the main stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Throughout my time as a competitive public speaker and spoken word/slam poet, I tutored students of all ages in these crafts. Whether you need help preparing for a speech and debate tournament, or in writing a speech for a class or private speaking engagement, just tell me what you need and I will help you every step along the way.

Depending on your goals as a public speaker, I will arrange my lessons differently. Most students come to me with a goal or a set of goals. For some students, this is preparing for a public speaking or debate event, or writing a persuasive speech that they need to present for a school project.
I will help you brainstorm, outline, write, edit and perform your speech. I can teach students from elementary school age into adulthood.
