About Alexandria
I believe in creating an environment that allows for any kind of questions to be asked. I always grew up asking questions and that's what's helped me get through many math courses. It means a lot to me to see someone not only understand the problems they are doing but feel confident in knowing that they will do well on their future tests. One of my favorite things is to learn from my students. Most of the time they pick up on things and see it from different angles that I could have never imagined. Everyone one is intelligent it just takes some time to see things from a different perspective. I am confident that I can help you in your many questions about math and support you on your journey.

Due to the complex nature of my high school mathematics I have spent countless hours studying math and working on many different problems. At a young age I was doing college level math. I understand that what works for someone else might not work for another. However, I think that I can help you get to that "Aha!" moment when it somehow seems to click. I am very attentive and pay specific detail to how someone's mind works. The method that seems to work for me is having my student explain what makes the problem simpler in their terms. When I understand that I can alter my approach and teach from there. My favorite approach is to work backwards in a math problem. I will pick a similar problem(not the same on in their homework) and show them the answer and have them work backwards. I think that seeing the answer first to a different problem gets the mind thinking differently and makes the steps seem less scary. What helped me get through math was following patterns. Patterns that I see in word problems, patterns in numbers, etc. After all, math really is just a series of patterns. I specialize in high school freshman, sophomore level math as well junior high math, but I can help all grades leading up to a high school algebra 1 class.
