As one who has been tutored in math in my earlier years, I learned that understanding the fundamentals of a topic is the most effective tool for student learning and growth. I will create a personalized education plan (PEP) for all my students and tailor my teachings to their strengths and weaknesses. The environment students learn in contributes tremendously to a student's ability to learn, so I aim to make my tutoring sessions interactive and enjoyable.
I have worked in different high school algebra classrooms through placement from a volunteer organization called Madison House. I TA'd an upper-level statistics course my final year at the University of Virginia. In my hometown, two high school friends and I started a SAT and ACT test prep service in which we tutored 25 students for a 10-week period prior to their respective test dates. All students showed significant improvement from their initial diagnostic test. I also worked at local tutoring centers such as Kumon and Tutoring Club for less than a year each.
