About the lesson

My approach is communicative and student-centered. I focus on helping learners use the language in real contexts, whether that’s ordering food, writing emails, or participating in discussions. I integrate the four key skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—with plenty of task-based learning, role plays, and real-world materials like music, videos, and articles. I also use scaffolding to support learners as they take on more complex language, and I adapt my methods to match individual learning styles—visual, auditory, or kinesthetic.

When teaching English, I emphasize clear pronunciation, functional vocabulary, and confidence-building, especially for beginners or false beginners. For Spanish, I include cultural comparisons, which help English-speaking learners grasp grammar and expressions in context. I also use English strategically to explain complex grammar or boost metalinguistic awareness when appropriate.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is built around a communicative objective—for example, "describing a past experience" or "asking for help in a store." Here’s how I structure a 60-minute session:

Warm-up (5–10 mins): Conversation, a short game, or a review of the last lesson to activate prior knowledge.

Presentation (10–15 mins): Introduction of new vocabulary or grammar through a context (dialogue, video, or image).

Practice (20–25 mins): Guided practice with speaking or writing activities (e.g., partner dialogues, fill-in-the-gap, role plays).

Production (10 mins): A freer task where students apply the new content in a real-life situation.

Wrap-up (5 mins): Feedback, correction, and a short reflection or homework assignment.

I use Google Docs, Quizlet, Wordwall, and sometimes Padlet or Edpuzzle to make the lessons interactive—especially with online students.
