About Sue

I'm a dedicated Mathematics tutor with over 7 years of teaching experience, specializing in helping students from Grades 1–8 build strong mathematical foundations and achieve consistent academic success.

I hold a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and have worked with students of all learning abilities, including those with special educational needs. My experience includes tutoring at Oxford Learning Centre, where I developed personalized learning strategies tailored to each student's pace and goals.

Throughout my academic and teaching journey, I have participated in numerous mathematics workshops and professional development programs and have been recognized in multiple International Mathematics Olympiads, strengthening both my subject expertise and teaching approach.

Having worked with a diverse range of students over the years, I have developed a thorough understanding of the curriculum, common learning challenges, and the techniques that produce lasting results. My teaching focuses on conceptual understanding, structured progress, and measurable improvement, helping students gain not only better grades but also the confidence to succeed independently.

About the lesson

Over the past 7 years, I've worked with students who were convinced they were "just bad at math." Many came to me feeling anxious before every test, frustrated with homework, or gradually losing confidence in the classroom. More often than not, the problem wasn't their potential- in reality, they often haven't been taught in a way that works for them.

My teaching begins differently- personalized -because no two students learn the same way.

Before we dive into lessons, I assess how your child thinks, where the learning gaps truly are, and what is preventing them from progressing. From there, I design a personalized learning roadmap tailored to their pace, strengths, and goals- not a one-size-fits-all lesson plan.

Instead of repeatedly solving questions for students, I teach them how to think through problems independently. My goal isn't simply to improve the next test score—it's to develop strong mathematical reasoning that stays with them long after tutoring ends.
