About Carlene
Fast playing is often the enemy of musicality. I provide custom backing tracks so students can practice soloing at home without needing a band. This allows kids and teens to internalize improvisation and songwriting concepts at their own speed. By focusing on power chords and intentional technique, I ensure that lessons remain grounded in theory rather than just noise.
My university training informs the structure I provide to students. Playing music should feel like a conversation that never ends.

Music connects me to the world through the vibration of strings under my fingertips. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Spanish from the University of Melbourne and view teaching as an extension of my own artistic practice.
Helping returning learners reclaim their instruments brings me genuine satisfaction. I support younger students by building solid foundations in reading tabs and understanding music theory. My background as a Colombian expat influences how I perceive rhythm and melody.
Working with teens allows me to share my appreciation for electric technique and blues progressions. I guide players through chord transitions and complex barre chords. Maintaining your instrument is just as vital as playing it properly.
Tuning and maintenance are essential parts of the routine I share. It is simply how I spend my days.
