About Chantel
Sheet music is often a barrier to expression rather than a helpful tool. We turn your song requests into simplified arrangements that you can play by the end of our first hour. This keeps you motivated because you are always working on music you actually enjoy. Beginners find that my 7 years of gigging experience keeps the technical side of things grounded.
We look at grade exam prep when you want a challenge, but I never lose sight of your individual goals. My method ignores the standard rigid structure in favor of what keeps you playing. Sometimes I forget that I have been playing for 7 years because the instrument feels like a natural extension of my arm. My 321 students range from young kids discovering their first chords to busy adults returning to their guitars after decades away.
Having spent 8 years in the Montreal folk scene, I know that music is about connection rather than perfect technique. I focus on reading sheet music and tabs so that you can pick up any song you hear on the radio. My intermediate students often come to me when they want to polish their electric technique or master specific strumming patterns.
I help you find your unique sound while keeping the theory simple and applicable to real songs. Lead guitar is a favorite subject of mine to teach because it provides so much creative freedom. If you have been searching for a patient coach to guide your growth, reach out whenever you are ready.
