About Toby
I'm an 18 year old who's excited to go onto study English Literature! I want to teach to pass on my academic experiences of the last 13 years to help students avoid my mistakes and share the same pure joy of learning that I've finally found across my subjects. I think everyone deserves to find a fresh and more personal way for engaging with the subjects they find challenging because the areas of academia I once detested are now big parts of my life and future opportunities!

Typical lesson length would be 1 hour. I'm happy to mark work and communicate outside of set lesson time and students ready to complete reading/practice questions outside of lessons would get the most from my sessions.
History and English lessons might involve:
-Rapid fire quote and date revision
-Discussing model essays, examiner reports and student work
-Joint writing of essays, rapid fire Essay Planning for exam technique
-Looking over critics on studied texts/ other sources or interpretations
UCAS and Oxbridge/Russell group interview prep might involve:
-Mock interviews
-Identifying niche research areas and discussing (with prep work)
-Personal statement editing
-Wider essay writing skill building and advice.
I have tutoring experience 1 on 1 with my schools leaders 4 learning scheme which pairs students with their peers to help them improve and from tutoring a family friend year 9 English. Lessons are for GCSE age to Year 12 in the above areas. I want to help my tutees across any subjects they're struggling with that I can and work holistically to help them find academic passion and build confidence!
