I have studied and practiced tajweed from multiple shayukh in Pakistan and got a certificate.
By profession, I'm a Software engineer, and I love to teach quran.

I start from Tajweed and qaida, then move to part 30 of the holy quran.
Along with recitation, we'll be memorizing the last 20 surahs (chapters).
After that, we'll start from part 1 and continue recitation lessons.
Overall, it would take roughly 6-12 months to complete the recitation (depending upon the students' pace).
