About Sanghwi

Hi, I'm Sanghwi! Unlike some tutors who were born naturally gifted at math, I had to work incredibly hard for my success. I was never one of those crazy talented students where everything just clicked automatically. In fact, I used to spend up to eight hours a day studying, practicing, and breaking down formulas until I truly understood them.

That intense dedication completely paid off. Because of my academic achievements and strong logical foundation, I am now heading to TU Eindhoven to pursue my Bachelor's degree in Data Science.

My journey taught me exactly how to overcome academic frustration. I don't just teach math concepts; I teach students how to study effectively, manage their time, and build resilience. Because I recently sat in the exact same classrooms, I understand the pressure students face today and know how to guide them toward their own breakthrough moments.

About the lesson

My lessons are specifically designed for middle school and high school students (up to Grade 10) following the Ontario math curriculum. Having a 97% average in Grade 10 math and achieving a 740/800 on the SAT Math section, I know exactly what it takes to excel, break down complex concepts, and build lasting confidence. As an incoming Data Science bachelor’s student at TU Eindhoven, my approach is highly logical, patient, and tailored to how modern students actually learn.

My Teaching Methodology
I don’t believe in rote memorization. Instead, I focus on intuitive understanding. If a student understands why a formula works, they can solve any problem thrown at them. Because I am close in age to my students, I can explain things using clear, relatable language rather than dense textbook jargon.

Typical Lesson Plan
• First 5–10 mins: Review homework and clear up any lingering questions from school.

• Next 25 mins: Core concept breakdown. We will tackle new topics step-by-step using interactive examples.

• Next 15 mins: Guided practice. The student takes the wheel to solve problems while I provide real-time feedback and tips.

• Last 5 mins: Quick wrap-up and setting a clear, manageable goal for the next session.
