About Francesca

My name is Francesca and I'm an Italian university student. I'm originally from Bologna, in Northern Italy, where I lived for most of my life. At age 17, I moved to the UK to attend an international boarding school for two years, and after that I decided to pursue my Bachelor degree in Singapore. I've also worked in Morocco for three months, and last Autumn I spent four months on exchange in Mexico, studying at a university in Mexico City. I'm currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Yale University. As you would expect, I'm very passionate about learning languages and connecting with people from different cultures!

About the lesson

As someone who has been studying 2+ foreign languages at any time since age 11, I’m very passionate about language learning and the opportunities it opens for intercultural exchange. I’ve had the chance to be a conversation partner for refugees learning English in Cardiff, as well as for a group of Japanese exchange students in my university. Additionally, I’ve been working as Spanish and Italian peer tutor in my university for two years, supporting students of these languages through conversation sessions. I'm excited to employ the experience I matured teaching languages to support you and share my passion for languages and foreign cultures. I can adapt to your learning style and interests: if you have topics or grammar points you would like to practice, I will prepare a lesson that suits your needs. I can share learning material and online resources, and I will happily recommend music and movies to help you practice. I will also help you connect with the culture of the language you're studying - for instance, I can teach you about the differences between Northern and Southern Italy, or I can explain to you some of the regional differences in Spanish grammar and vocabulary. Finally, I'm able to teach Spanish/ Italian for speakers of other romance languages, skipping what's intuitive and focusing on the tricky differences!
