About Wentworth

I am a called barrister and practising solicitor with eight years’ experience managing legal cases, including High Court litigation. I achieved a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course and have over 200 hours of law tutoring experience. I am also a Superprof Ambassador with extensive positive student reviews.

I hold STEP Advanced Certificates in Taxation of Trusts and Estates, and Trusts Law and Practice (International), achieving a Distinction in the latter. My academic background also includes a Philosophy BA, where I focused on ethics and logic. This informs my interest in questioning assumptions and examining the practical, moral and wider social implications of legal rules.

My strengths include explaining complex concepts simply, identifying the key legal material and spotting weaknesses in reasoning. Drawing on my practical experience, I help students evaluate competing arguments, explore counterarguments and communicate supported conclusions clearly.

My approach is patient and constructive, while encouraging students to think carefully and independently. I often use questions to help students examine and strengthen their own arguments. My aim is to develop their confidence and independent analytical skills, with benefits extending beyond an individual essay.

About the lesson

I help LLB students write clearer, more persuasive essays and develop the critical analysis their assessments require.

I explain complex legal concepts simply and help you identify the key material needed to answer the question. Drawing on my practical experience as a lawyer, we examine competing arguments, test your reasoning and turn your ideas into a focused response.

How I can help

• Planning and structure: Interpreting the question, selecting relevant material and organising your essay around a coherent argument.

• Critical analysis: Questioning assumptions, identifying weaknesses and exploring counterarguments, including the practical, moral and social implications of legal rules where relevant.

• Legal authorities: Using cases, legislation and academic commentary critically, explaining how they support or challenge your argument.

• Persuasive writing: Expressing complex ideas clearly, improving sentence structure and grammar, and developing a logical progression of supported conclusions.

• Marking criteria: Understanding your assessment criteria and how to demonstrate analysis, sound reasoning and independent judgement.

Written essay feedback

Choose between:

• General Essay Feedback: An overall assessment of your argument, structure, analysis, authorities and expression, identifying the main priorities for improvement.

• Detailed Essay Feedback: Paragraph-by-paragraph comments highlighting weaknesses in reasoning, unsupported assertions, missed counterarguments and opportunities for clearer writing or deeper analysis.

My feedback combines questions that challenge your reasoning with direct guidance where helpful, developing skills you can use beyond the individual essay.

Subjects and format

I support a wide range of undergraduate law subjects and can consider specialised or less familiar topics with appropriate preparation.

All support develops your own work in accordance with your university’s academic integrity requirements.
