About Andrea

Welcome to my profile!
I am an enthusiastic and experienced Italian language teacher, specialised in learners of all levels, from school pupils to adults.
I previously worked as a university lecturer for seven years and, since 2018, I have focused on teaching Italian full-time, helping students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

I regularly support learners preparing for key exams such as GCSE/National 5, A-Level/Higher and IB Italian across boards including AQA, Edexcel and SQA. Lessons concentrate on clear grammar explanations, targeted vocabulary, exam-style tasks and feedback that makes next steps obvious.

Alongside exam preparation, I work with professionals and adult learners who wish to improve their Italian for work, travel or personal interest. Scheduling is flexible to fit around busy lives, and each course is tailored to the learner’s goals, pace and preferred learning style.

Recognising that each learner is unique, I craft personalised lesson plans to align with individual goals and learning styles. I believe in a student-centred approach, allowing learners to progress at their own pace without the constraints of a rigid methodology.

**Assessment and Goal Setting**
Our journey begins with an initial assessment to gauge your current proficiency. Through conversation and a brief reading exercise, I quickly ascertain your starting level. This evaluation is crucial in developing a structured learning plan with clear milestones, which are particularly beneficial for GCSE/A-Level pupils. Regular goal setting fosters motivation and ensures efficient, cost-effective learning.

**Comprehensive Feedback and Support**
I am committed to providing continuous feedback and support throughout your language learning journey. Homework assignments are an integral part of the process, and I review and provide insights on the work submitted.

**Balanced Lesson Structure**
Each lesson is thoughtfully divided into three complementary segments:
1. Speaking and Listening - Enhancing conversational skills and auditory comprehension;
2. Grammar - Building a strong foundation in language structure;
3. Reading - Developing reading proficiency and comprehension.

Andrea is an excellent tutor, my needs were very specific, I needed a tutor who could take my current level of german and improve this towards fluency. He is very structured and prepared, we know what is to be discussed and improved upon. We meet weekly for 90mins and typically have an hour homework. My German has improved immensely, I am now reading german Novels and Newspapers, something I would have struggled with before we met. I would highly recommend Andrea
