My classes consist of basic building blocks made of grammar, listening, reading and conversation. I gradually work my way up when I notice that the building block has been fully mastered. I have many references to back up my experience.
My methods vary and are adapted to the needs of the students. We work together to help the student achieve his/her academic goals. I am quite flexible in terms of time and hours requested and have had nothing but positive feedback.
Since I know that Italian can be intimidating to tackle at first, my method is based on a balance of grammar and conversation exercises, aiming to make the language structure as natural and intuitive as possible. I expect the students I tutor to make lots of mistakes and learn from them in a tension-free environment.
I am slow and thorough when tutoring. I am patient and explain things as if they are being explained to a beginner. I am always testing relevant information so that the student can comprehend it even when I am not present.
My courses are based on the students needs and purposes in learning the language and I use engaging techniques - such as role play or storytelling - and multimedia tools to animate the class and create a comfortable environment for the students, while choosing themes of conversation that allow them to enhance their oral and written ability and enrich their vocabulary in the fields they need most.
Accordingly to the person's Italian knowledge , I usually decide to focus more on the grammar and linguistic aspect or on the development of a fluent oral speaking ability. In both cases, I believe in the essential importance of acquiring a large vocabulary which allows to enrich the language, be it written or oral.
I believe the international education and a reliable experience I earned in several countries and languages (I'm also excellent in French and fluent in Spanish) can be a resourceful. I have a deep, wide, and reliable knowledge of the subjects, acquired and constantly improved in internationally challenging environments.
My teaching methods are structured but extremely fun allowing for creativity and growth at all stages. I implement and incorporate a variety of teaching strategies for all learners. Anyone and everyone is accepted regardless of ability or skill level! I can accommodate small groups as well as one on one lessons.
I adapt my methods to the student and to his goal. From oral comprehension with songs to writing comprehension with authentics documents like newspapers, you will be confronted to real italian language.
Moreover, while my on-the-job experience has afforded me a well-rounded skill set, including first-rate people and administrative abilities, I excel at: • Increasing student concentration, participation, and accountability. • Designing creative lesson plans and utilizing technology and games. • Tutoring and mentoring individual students.
