About Cecilia

I started tutoring in secondary school, where I had to help young students improve on Italian written comprehension.

When I met the people I had to tutor, I was pleasantly surprised of how much they want to improve. At the same time, I was discouraged by their regular teachers, who often lacked motivation to help the students.

The moment that shocked me the most was when one of these teachers took the 16-year-old me aside and said: "why are you giving her hope?" followed by language extremely degrading and insulting when referring to the student I had talked to. I had connected and 'given false hope' to a student that wanted to change schools and needed to improve her grades to do so. Teachers should always believe in their students and, even though I'd felt that sense of disgust before, that time created such a strong repulsion in me that it was impossible to ignore. From then, tutoring became a great part of my life, with a brief hiatus during my first year at university. About the lesson

My teaching method depends on your level and of course your preferences! I like to create a lesson or a set of lessons shaped just for you. The more we talk about what you truly love, the faster you'll learn! In the first lessons, we will get to know one another and not only will I be able to assess your level, but I will also understand what kind of approach is most beneficial for your learning. Will we sing, read, or recite poetry? Maybe we'll do all of this, perhaps we'll stick to the books, or maybe we'll do something completely different, but, no matter what, it will be a unique learning experience tailored just for you! Are you worried you can't learn via Skype/Teams? It's easier than you may think! I will share everything with you in a google drive folder with content tailored to you. All the exercises and explanations will be in there for you and the best part is that they can be edited anytime by you and me. If you have any other doubts, I'll be happy to discuss them with you during our free introductory lesson! Buona fortuna, amicə!

One thing that made her different from other tutors I had tried was that she actually listened to my questions when I was in trouble and instead of simply giving me a few exercises to do, she always tried to lead me to the solution and helped me with my reasoning. She's very passionate, prepared and has a definite study structure: I struggle with ADHD, but her lessons kept me engaged all the time.
